Welcome to our page all things WALES, this country is part of the United Kingdom. But just a quick heads up first though, we will be having different pages for the other different countries in the UK. We currently have not been to Scotland or Northern Ireland, but you can see our England page HERE.
Wales is currently in the EU (European Union) but this could change after a referendum that is due to take place June 2016. This could see many changes happen to the UK, including potentially losing the ability for British citizens to free movement around many countries in Europe.
The currency used is the British Pound (GBP), and the languages used is English and Welsh. You will find the further north you head in Wales the more and more you will see Welsh signs and less English is used.
Transport is good across Wales, you have the southern line which links all the major cities to the south and then the same to the north. You will find several scenic train lines running through mid wales, The Heart of Wales Line from Shrewsbury to Llanelli and Swansea cuts diagonally across the rolling hill country of Mid Wales. You can get around either by Coach (National Express) or by local buses, along with the more obvious car, cycling an walking. I would choose the later if you wanted to see some incredible Welsh countryside.
When is the best time to visit Wales? Well if its greenery, then I would suggest between beginning of May and the end of September, its lighter in the evenings and warmer , sunnier??? However baring in mind Wales is on the West coast of the UK, Wales can and will get very chilly in the winter months.
The major Airports include Swansea and Cardiff, both of which are in the South of Wales.
