This glorious little gem is in a very key location in Kingsway Place (Townsville City). It was a glorious sunny Queensland day, and we chose to sit outside in their canopy covered seating area. There was lots of parking and is placed in a very central location.
They have a large comprehensive menu; it was almost overwhelming with the amount of choice available and not only regular dishes but the most excellent sounding gluten-free and vegan dishes too. I was tempted by the fantastic sounding dishes but then I sore ‘waffles’ hell yes, yum yum and what was even better is that they were gluten free too. They tasted amazing; I chose the maple glazed bacon and a fruit salad as my sides, and I totally wasn’t disappointed. It was sweet, salty and savoury all at the same time. Not a dainty portion either because there’s nothing worse than the promise of a feast and a teeny tiny plate of food being put in front of you. I was pleased, and everything was delicious, I could not even tell the waffles I had were gluten-free, which is a sign of a good chef.
Lee had the big relish breakfast, a combo of a potato Rosti, which he said tastes delicious and was very smooth just like mash. Bake beans which had a smoked flavor to them. Bacon was maple glazed but was not too much, but it did have a slightly sweet taste. He had toast that was proper doorstop sliced bread that was so soft yet crunchy too. He also a sausage too, although looked undercooked (no colour to it) was quite fatty but was cooked well just not to his taste. Moreover, if all that wasn’t enough he also had eggs that were perfectly poached, soft and gooey. He was a happy boy. Hehe If we were in Townsville any longer, we would have been back time and time again.
Our food and drinks came to around 50 dollars or about 25 English pounds for both of us; that is pretty amazing value for the quality of food we received. All these ingredients are locally sourced, eggs a free range and with artisan bread, this beautiful cafe offers fantastic quality food at a great price.
This was a quirky little place. There was just this lovely vibe about the place; the staff was super helpful and friendly. There was this funky but modern artwork around the place (designed by a local artist, Jamie Archer) it just gave this place a beautiful artisan feel. Their devotion to local produce is very evident too with the ingredients they use in the café for sale too.
Oooooh and their range of handmade cakes on display inside was just too tempting not to indulge in, oh my days the choice was crippling, but we did walk away with a gluten-free brownie and a peanut butter cookie slice. Hmm just thinking of them now has made my mouth salivate.
Check this fantastic place out if you are ever in Townsville (Queensland) you definitely won’t be disappointed.
