Off the Beaten Track

The date was the 11th November 2017. Yes, we are a little late with this one. But we have been here more recently and the food is just as incredible. Oops, spoiler right there. I had driven past this pub I must say a hundred times. Not once had I noticed its existence.

The beautiful area called Maifeld is home to one of the most magnificent and best preserved castles in Germany named Burg Eltz. Wonderfully located on Germanys most beautiful hiking trail 2013 and surrounded by pure nature, it appears to be a dreamlike fairy-tale castle.

Driving into this area was something else, high security isn't the word. Apparently, the only way into this part of town is to pass through these checkpoints, and they are there because of a bombing that happened in Bali some time ago.

So we were coming to the end of our 2-week tour up to the northern tropics of Queensland.  Stopping off at the tourist town of Hervey Bay. Hervey Bay is a typical spot for tourists both young and old heading over to Fraser Island.
