Pumphouse Point: A Taste of Tasmania

If you are after destination accommodation that is like a Cinderella story, then this is the place for you. No glass slipper required.

The Tibooburra B&B on the Australia West Coast

Tibooburra's run by Bronwen and Peter, they are honestly the most welcoming people I have met. Their stunning newly built home has three beautiful bedrooms on the lower floor. They are immaculately decorated, and each has their own colour theme. This place was so comforting; I instantly felt right at home.

Pioneer Dalby Caravan Park

So the Pioneer Caravan Park was set on what seemed like a truck route. So if you had any windows open during the day, you would hear them very frequently. But once the doors are closed, little road noise gets through.

The Shamrock Hotel Mackay

We had seen from the booking this place has a sports bar and pokies (fruit machine games). We had a previous experience noticed this to be a dangerous combination. However, here, it could not have been further from the truth.

Herbert Valley Motel in Ingham

It was a glorious day, and we rocked up to Herbert Valley Motel around midday. We were greeted by the lovely chatty and well-informed Dennis on reception.

Well, we were heading up to Cairns for the day, a 4-hour drive up from Townsville.  It then hit me, why do we not just stay in Cairns for a couple of nights and then drive down to the Herbert Valley Motel.

Wongalinga Beachside Apartments

Well, the Wongalinga Beachside Apartments. What a day when we arrived here at mission beach, high winds, and sporadic rain, not a great way to start a mini trip by a gorgeous beach surrounding.

The Great Little Motel Hill View in Charters Tower

This place was a lovely slice of one of the most historic mining towns in Queensland; Charters Tower is a unique slice of Australia. It is just about an hour and a half from Townsville and is worth the drive inland.

Alexandra Lodge in Bundaberg

So we were driving up from Brisbane through Bundaberg and up to Cairns and beyond.  So this was the first stop off on our epic 5,000km round trip.
