Frankensteins Laboratory is located in Seminyak, Kabupaten Badung. This location, unfortunately, doesn’t have any parking, but I would guess that every local taxi driver knows this place well.
Lee had the ‘Monster Burger’ it had two, one hundred and fifty-gram beef patties, bacon, cheddar cheese, jalapeño peppers, salad, BBQ sauce, sesame seed bun, with a side order of chips. Lee loved it; he said it was the best burger he had in Bali.
I had the ‘Zombie Burger’ a southern fried crumbed chicken breast, cheddar cheese, tomato, onion, spinach, garlic aioli on a sourdough roll. I can honestly say it was freaking awesome. Very juicy and super delicious and I definitely would order again.
We also had a side of Garlic Bread which was also nice, but they did forget to bring it, and we pretty much ate it after our main meals.
Oh, course we had dessert, Lee went for the ‘Death by Chocolate’ a simple but delicious chocolate fondant, raspberry sorbet, and vanilla ice cream; he ate it in about three seconds, so I guess it was good. I had an Ice cream sundae, a scoop of chocolate ice cream with and a scoop of vanilla with chocolate sauce and crushed nuts. To be honest, I wasn’t too impressed with my dessert, I wasn’t quite expecting it to come out on a plate for starters, but then the ice cream just wasn’t great, I suppose I ‘ve been waiting for it to be awesome like my burger was but it just didn’t match up.
I also indulged in a legendary Frankenstein’s cocktail; I didn’t fancy any of the ones that came in IV bags, or sure he’s, so I went for a Monsterito cocktail in a scientific beaker, pretty much the strongest Mojito I’ve ever tasted.
Value for Money
Okay, so this place isn’t exactly a typical Balinese restaurant but is a massive tourist pull for native Aussies. The prices reflect that so expect Australian prices but it’s worth every penny in my eyes, the food is, for the most part, is good and the show, yes the show is freaking awesome.
As I said the cabaret show that comes free with the meal was so cool. We had three dance shows and three house band gigs. The dance show was a series of zombies performing an impressive mix of street dance and structured routines; they were good, better than good. They crept through the crowd and jumped out to people who weren’t paying attention. It was very cool.
They had people making the grossest skin lesions and bullet holes out of being painted on people who wanted to look like the walking dead.
They got people up as well when the house band was playing; it was a very fun evening, and I would recommend this place to anybody wanting a different night out in Bali.
