So we were in Cairns for a couple of days, and while on our drive through. Tina spotted the Cairns Night Market. So on our last night, we took a look and ended up eating at the Ice Cloud Churros & Bubble Tea. It didn’t scream Spanish to me. But none the less we wanted something sweet.
Location
So being in the centre of the Cairns, you can expect parking to be difficult. However, although you do have to pay to park. We found that after 5 pm most days parking was then free. Be quick, though, as parking spaces do get taken very quickly.
Food Quality
Very disappointed, the churros was too thin. Which then led to it being overcooked and too hard to bite into. The fact the Churros was then put into a shape like a 2D balloon and then put in a paper bag meant that the oil came through and was too hot to handle without oven gloves. We did get a free one because the first one fell apart. In hindsight not sure if this was a good or bad thing.
Value for Money
So for $5 each you get a large 50cm thin piece of Churros. So for the cost of £2.50GBP, it really isn’t that much. But the quality of the food for me lived up to the cheap price. It may have been different with a bit of ice cream that you can purchase. But cannot comment on that as we didn’t have it.
Try it, you may like them. But having eaten traditional ones in Spain. There are hard to beat.
Atmosphere
Well, you do have a bit of a buzz because of the market. There is just one person there, serving and taking money (without a glove on so handling food and money at the same time).
