This place was a lovely slice of one of the most historic mining towns in Queensland; Charters Tower is a unique slice of Australia. It is just about an hour and a half from Townsville and is worth the drive inland. It was great that we got to see a real slice of what it is like further in from the main coast. You’ll be surprised how much the terrain changes around you and not to mention the humongous road trains that pass you on the road too, they carry anything from water to cattle and take many forms.
Anyway back to the motel, it was just off the main road, and we had a very spacious double room with bathroom, separate sitting area, and kitchen with all the mod-cons. It was a great space to relax in, and we were incredibly apprehensive of the air con, and I am sure we would of even of popped into the pool if it had been the summer months.
The Motel Hill View is a great little stop on our journey up north and the owners Tony & Ingrid are the most accommodating Motel owners we had met so far; I would collar them for a chat as they are great people to get to know. We learned a lot about the local area from them, and they have lots of knowledge of the little gems in the local area.
We had two nights here, and we had everything we needed, the kitchen has every appliance you would need and in the bathroom the short was awesome.
They are a lovely couple, and we enjoyed the time we spent with them and would stay again in a heartbeat.
