Well, the Wongalinga Beachside Apartments. What a day when we arrived here at mission beach, high winds, and sporadic rain, not a great way to start a mini trip by a gorgeous beach surrounding. So with the ferocious wind whistling through us, we explored this beautiful apartment. It was a lovely family sized house with a large open plan living, dining room, and kitchen. There were very decently sized bedrooms and a main bathroom with the biggest, most fantastic round bathtub I’ve ever seen (I jumped up and down when I saw it) I so desperately wanted a dip in a nice warm bath to relax my tired muscles and here was my little touch of luxury. Finally!
We slept in the double room with the on suite bathroom; the bed was so big and so perfect I could have easily slept for a week.
So, after exploring the fantastic apartment, I braved the elements once again and took a look around the outside of the property. I found a full patio with a Weber BBQ, a lovely seating area, a huge shared garden, that leads to the communal pool and the piece de la resistance was the 2min (yes 2min) walk to the sandy mission beach, looking out to the surrounding islands. Why on earth did it have to be such a miserable day? I can imagine the wonder and excitement for a family to stay here in perfect weather, it has a sound basis for a perfect family holiday.
So I scurried back into the dry, and I literally couldn’t wait to give that beautiful round bath ago. It took a while to fill but even though I didn’t get bubbles; it was totally worth every minute I waited as I was in complete heaven.
Next on the evening’s agenda was to make dinner, we made a lovely chicken and chips dinner using the utensils in the basic but workable kitchen. The kitchen wasn’t quite what I had expected for this place and could do with updating a little, but it did just about have everything we needed.
As the weather was still roaring, we settled in for the night in front of the telly and made good use of the wide range of channels and the good internet speed. Wongalinga Beachside Apartments is certainly a little gem on our journey, and I would certainly come back in the summer to enjoy the outside more, definitely a great place for a large family or group of friends to enjoy.
